yeah... sooo....?

the VT was out, and the VU ute only came out until the VX started!

then again VSIII went through with VT, although so is VZ ute with VE...

Holden felt it would be better to develop the statesman/caprice first because of the number of exports...

Holden felt it would be better to develop the statesman/caprice first because of the number of exports...

Exactly right! If they cared about the Australian market we would have the VE wagon here well before the stato and caprice. All about the exports to Holden as the large car market here slowly diminishes.

Cheers

aus8 you are right there but I look at it a little differeently.

By releasing the Caprice/Statesman along with the Commodore makes business sense as there is more money to be made for Holden in those two cars as exports (without exports those cars might not even exist) which will line the Holden coffers with $$$$$$ which will help in and aid the development of both the ute and wagon which will make them better cars for us.

Mind you I'd like to replace the VZ Wagon with a VE Wagon but I spose I'll just have to wait..........

I saw one last week at Phoenix Holden in Perth, in Ignition. It looks the same as any other ute just with SV6 rims.

Theres a shitload of Ignition VZ utes and crewmans in the yards now.

The utes look to be released early to mid 2007. We have only just run the first trials for interior plastic trim tooling. Obviously the ute requires different b pillars to that of the sedan plus a few other differences. As for the wagon have not seen any tooling for that yet but sales would indicate that there is no rush for the wagon as there is not a big demend for them. The vz wagon sales have slowed alot.

I dont think its a bad thing that they are coming out later on, great for people who own utes or are buying a new one, they seem to keep there value a bit better and longer. Most commodore sedans die in the arse in price after a couple of years, its really stupid. I think holden needs to stop bring out so many models so often, I think they would hold there value better. I was looking around before the ve came out to buy another car and my trade in value on the vx ss was 19 000 or close to, and as soon as the ve comes out, its now 12500.

Sorry to bring back an old topic fellas.

I work for a Holden dealer, and as far as we're getting told, and waht we're telling customers (so it should be 85% correct :P) the utes and wagons will be released in February.

As for VZ's with VE colours, the colours Devil Yellow, Quicksilver, and Turismo have been chopped ( :( i wanted to get a SSII Ute in Turismo) and Nickel (the VE silver), and Ignition, as far as i know, have been introduced.

Any other questions i could help out with i'd love to.... :)

Also, with the wagons, why would they be in any hurry? buy an outdated lookin wagon when you can wait for the 'new thing' and be the first in town? any wonders sales have been slipping.. why bother? i wouldnt buy a VZ SS when i can wait for a VE SS... lol.

well the VE's have a new diff, im not too sure how much in the back end is taken from it and put into these utes, but im pretty sure they have the new style diff in them

Interesting, we haven't even started moulding the internal plastic trim for the ute yet. Actually the tooling isn't even ready and we shutdown in two to three weeks for christmas and then don't start up again until second week in January so I think holdens will be pushing it to release the ute in February

I dont mind that there is a break up in the release of sedans, wagons and utes. It keeps everyone interested and the make and model up on peoples minds. But a 2 year what is a bit stupid, should onle be around 12 month wait.

The VE ute will be in showrooms in Sept 2007. VE wagon won't be around until 2008 :)

not long after the ve came out i did a ve ssv ute as a concept its not the best but here ya go i spose, there are others around that people have just cut the back off sedans, but i used a vz ute and put all ve ssv into it, the only thing wrong with it is the rear bar, i lost couldnt find a good inuff pic of a ve to put the rear on to it.

rear axle it 2 far back for it to be real , the utes tend to have more overhang past the axles, prolly sumthin to do with carrying capacity. the wheel just looks 2 close to the rear of the vehicle.

Yeh, they are chops..

Look at the first SS ute pic, you can see through the rear window that the gaurd rail doesnt line up right, and the rear cargo area of the Omega ute is way too small. I also doubt they will have the fuel filler where it is in the pics.

my company makes the vu-vz ute fuel tanks.they are going from metal tanks to plastic tanks so we are going to be finished making these around july-august.

not many new utes are being brought any ways.some times it ranges from 6-36 tanks a day they are taking and thats in both v6 and v8s together.

The reason the rear axle looks too far back is that it is, lol. Where's the rear axle on the previous model utes, sedans, wagons etc? Further forward right? On the E series? It's further back. Makes sense that on the ute this model trait would be carried over, otherwise it wouldn't be an E Series.

On another note, not a fan of the new naming system. I was behind a VE GTS the other day and the only badge it had was 307. I thought I was behind a new Peugeot. They can't use VF I don't imagine, as they were Chrysler/Valiants. And calling the range "E Series" sounds very BMW-ish. And they wonder why they get hassled by their styling cues?!

Its definatly a chop, as the fuel filler is in the sedan position. Utes have them on the other side of the wheel arch between that and the doors.

just saw the ute in all its glory at the official launch at holden HQ at fishermans bend. i like it :D just needs to be lower. the ssv in the green similiar to hot house looked sweet. numberplate in tailgate and one piece beaver panel looks very tidy. the tub is a tad smaller but doesnt look out of place.

except for the 2 ft swept back aerial mounted in the centre rear of the roof. that looks ****.
