View Full Version : You Won't Believe What I Just Did!! - New Pics :)

Well...
Where do I start??!!
A few people may know.. I just got rid of my VX SS last week. Anyway, I was searching around here there and everywhere for something that I could enjoy driving, but not break the bank when not wanting to drive it hard, and at the same time put some money back on my loan :)
Anyway to cut a long story short.. I was looking for something around VR/VS SS/Clubsport price range... but really wanted a VL. Circumstances changed and I no longer could buy a VL, had to be something newer.
So... Let the pictures speak for themselves.. I met all of my criteria...
- Good Handling
- Good Power
- Good Consumption Whilst Not Wanting To Give It A Belting
I swore I would never buy one.. EVER
Anyone who is so narrow minded that would never bother giving one a chance (use to be me) I feel sorry for you, as for the price I paid, you could never get anything like it. :)

Nice choice getting something other then a commodore - like yourself, I'm glad I've taken a break, really enjoying the Subaru! I'm sure I'll be back one day - maybe.
I love R32's - went for a ride in my mates R32 GTR the other week, holy f*ck they move for a stock car! I wanted a R32 GTS-T, except the RB20 don't have much torque at all, and I'm not huge on R33 GTS-T... Looks nice - has it landed and been complained yet, or do you still have to get all that sorted?
If it's still got to land, who did you get through, J-Spec or Prestige?

Yes yes i know that but why not take newer pics when u own it not when its in japan:)

if you ever get bored with it,get a vl and transplant the running gear
VTGT35
19-12-2006, 05:05 PM
now its time to rip the rubbish RB20 out and do a RB25/30 hybrid with a big 35/40, then you will never consider coming back to a commodore.
Yiddo
19-12-2006, 05:15 PM
Cheers for the comments guys...
The reason I dont have any newer pics is because im the first owner in Australia, I have pics on my phone from the dealer.
It was already imported, just has to be complied & regod (hopefully today) and then I can pick it up. Ive been told i'll 100% have it for the weekend :)
Cant wait.. 1st turbo car.. its like learning to drive again :D
I wasnt all that keen on the rb20 compared to the 25, but I preferred the r32 shape, and at the same time uses jack shit petrol when not boosting..My good mate has a rb20 in his vl and it does the job..
The 4:11's or whatever they have get em off the line ok
da_ilks
19-12-2006, 05:17 PM
When you get bored just rip out the RB20 and chuck in a RB25 :p
What did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking?

NIIICE. I love R32's, but the closest im getting to one is the RB20 in my VL. I've driven one and yes they do hammer for a 2L. So does mine!
Maybe you should get into drift? Fun fun fun. :)

that is a nice r32.. they are good cars.. around corners and tight bends there heaps of fun compared to a commodore. but your gonna have to get use to revving above 3,500 rpm on the highway with no cruise control :) Have fun..
But seriously, good cars, the japs do know what there doing../

The R32 Skylines are a pretty nice car. They look good, go pretty well and handle brilliantly.... Fuel Consumption... well you might get a shock about that one. The R33 I used to have used a fair bit more fuel than my LS1...
Anyway looks good, I reckon I would own a Skyline again if it was the right car.

That a REALLY nice R32 their mate I went from a VK to a R32 GTST myself (still love Commodores though) and have owned it for a year and its a great car it has a few mods and is at 170rwkw on the stock turbo at the moment and im whacking a hi flow along with all the other supporting mods ive purchased over the year (injectors, AFM, ECU etc) on it at the beginning of the new year which should see me up around the 220rwkw mark.
You should join the forums on Skylines Australia now too.

Thanks Jase, I cant wait ey..
Yeah it doesnt have the low down torque..neither did my VX though really.
But at the same time the skyline will handle a shit load better and wont be that far off the VX for times.. yeah it might lack a bit up top but how many times do you hit over 120!

R32 GTS-4's are just a GTS-T with 4WD drivetrain instead of RWD, and run the RB20DET. In the R33 range, the GTS-4 runs a RB25DE, but no turbo.

I wouldn't pay more then $11k for one, unless it has substantial mods/reciepts. They go alright as a daily, just a little light on low down torque. Better built then a VL/VN commo.

Way Way better built than a vl/vn commodore..

Yep after searching the net for a bit, you're right. Most R32 RB25 GTS-t's are simply NA ones with a turbo slapped on. Is there much of a price difference between a GTS and a GTS-t? I'm wondering if it is cheaper to buy an R32 GTS and slap a turbo on it, to get a better car for the same money as a GTS-t.
Yiddo
24-12-2006, 08:57 AM
yes but commodore were made here not like skylines
Point being? You sound like what i use to be like ;) The only compromise I have found in my 32 compared to any commodore around 92/93 is space. I've had a VN SS, 130,000kms, immaculate and this car is a world away from that car in terms of performance, handling, economy etc, and at the end of the day isnt all that much more expensive.
Im still a commodore freak, and if I was to ever buy a second car it would be a commodore without question. I just can't see myself selling the car, not even to go back up to something like a VX SS which I have just had. Thats how highly I think of this car now, and before the weekend of buying it, I would of sworn, like most of you guys, never to own one ;)

Nah if you were interested just buy a GTS-T, I don't think it would be worth while buying a GTS. Have a wander around some of the import dealers. For a stocker you shouldnt be paying anymore than around 12k.

Yeah looked like fun but wanted to stick RWD :)
But sticking with the stereotype of this forum! "Theres no replacement for displacement!"
Like my narrowminded self use to be like :s
Ah yes i totally agree boost and rice is cool but boost and cubes is cooler
Indeed.. price tag isnt though when your 19!! :p
looks the goods, except that lovely ricer exhaust could surely be replaced with a nice dual system
Sounds good so no point changing it atm
Thanks for the comments though :)

They don't come much taller than the owner of this skyline.
I'm 6'1 and Christian towers over me, he'd be 6'4 at least I reckon.

I'm it the same boat as I'm bored with my calais and looking to get my ass in a evo IX lancer to have some real fun.
Straight line power and burnouts are fun but I'm getting older now and safety and handling is becoming more of a priority.
These new pocket rocket cars are just the thing to fill my void.
Nice car BTW.

I'll be honest, it doesnt have heaps.. I think it could keep up with the VX until like 60-70km but then probably lag behind a bit, but its only running 9psi with a front mount, pod and catback. Im gonna get a dump soon and when the money allows, eventually boost controller, computer etc.. right now the only thing I wanna do is sort out a couple of niggly things and get it out on the track!!
If you are gonna buy a 33 GTR just make sure you get a decent alarm, maybe a tracking option as well.

im the designated driver sometimes, but i only do it when i get to drive my best mates gtst.
Never been beaten.
Ever.
Skylines produce a lot of power and have destroyed V8's with a higher power to weight ratio. ( Ill make this legal by stating it was at the track or something.)

The best of both worlds is the limited amount of R32 GTS-t's that came with RB25's. Great cars, man they hammer.
are you thinking of the r32 GTR with the rb26tt 4wd 4wsteer

Il have to get some engine bay shots... I havent got one yet.. nothing special, big shiny pod, white cooler pipes, strut brace & tops thats about it.. keep it really clean though :)
Diff is just the standard L.S.D 4:11 gear ratio, and im pretty sure the brakes are standard.. its not really quick enough to worry about them to be honest..
I got fully adjustable Tein coilovers, tein springs etc, so its sticks on the road nicely :)
