Now I'm not really one to be superficial, but why do I sense a Bathurst curse for Holden?

It struck me as I was watching the 2006 Bathurst highlights DVD tonight, seeing Skaife getting taken out, and Holden eventually losing their undefeated streak.

Then of course there was this year, with complete anilation.

It just seems strange and ironic that things at Bathurst for Holden have gone into a nose dive, since Brocky died. Maybe he converted to Ford up in heaven? lol :headscrat

No but seriously, it's rather strange.

i think maybe brocky wanted to give his old mate lowndes a win in 06 for him and then in 07 to give lowndes a victory outside of brock.

but brock realised that to let lowndes win he had to knock out the good holdens.

i mean how else will a ford win at bathurst. its devine intervention i tell u.

personally i think that lowndes is as close to brockie as anyone will be..

not only is he a great driver but hes a real gentleman, never see him havn dummie spits and well even if he gets knocked out of a race he still manages to put a smile on his face..

he was brought into touring cars around brock and u can see it a mile away, even though he does drive a ford these days i personally think hes the next brock.. but in sayn that NO ONE WILL EVER REPLACE BROCK..

maybe some of the other guys in the v8s (eg rick kelly) could do with a lesson or two off him..

and as much as i hate the fact that ford are winning races i think its great of the sport, after all it was getn a bit boring in the days that hrt was winning every race and championship..

anyway thats my two cents worth

well put...
if theres a guy in the paddock that would resemble brocky it'd be Lowndes for sure.

as for the curse,i dont think its a curse, but seems HSVDT always start good and end badly,as does hrt.
well thats what i think,as its shown in 2005,2006 and not quite in 2007 could this be the year holden end on a roll whom knows?

In truth, we can't be too greedy. I've been going to Bathurst since 1998 (only missed two, including this year) and been really lucky as Holden won 7 years in a row (1999 to 2005). As usual, these things come and go - we had a good run at it and maybe it's now Fords turn. A couple of the Holden's are up there as usual but Bathurst is a tough place and will catch you out very easily.

Even though I'm a die-hard Holden fan, I'm not unhappy about Lowdnes winning the last two years. He is an absolute champion bloke, a great driver and has worked hard for it. Plus he was Brocky's protege growing up so last year was a good outcome for Brocky's memorial race. This year, he did it without the emotion of the memorial - although I'm sure it played a part in his motivation but here's hoping the Ford reign doesn't last too long! :)

Me either. I had tears in my eyes, when he wont it last year.

Lowndes and Whincup for that mateer, are awesome blokes.:)

I was just saying it seems ironic that Holden's streak ended as soon as Brocky died. Though I admit other years Ford has come within a bee's dick of winning the great race.

It's not excuse making or anything, but it kind of struck me last night.:headscrat
