Ok, i brought the Calais about 4 years ago. It was originally green over silver. I started on it straight away. I got a VY Clubsport kit for it and painted it in an orange that i mixed up. It also had a gold pearl in it. After that i got a set of 18" chromies for it. I wasn't happy with them and after about 5 months i got a different set.

Not long after i had done this i had a women in a 4WD run up the ass of it and cause some heavy damage. I had only just built a custom boot install for it out of fibreglass which was destroyed. Between the boot install and the damage to the car it cam to a total of $20,000 damage.

After that i decided to throw alot of money into it to transform it into the car that it is today. I put a House Of Kolor paint job over it upgraded the stereo and did the interior and got 20" rims for it.

What have you damaged now?

I didn't do anything, some $$$$ backed into the back right of the car, dinted in the panel above the bumper, smashed the tail light, dinted the little panel just below the tail light and ripped the bumper off. I had it parked just down the road from a mates place in a parallel park and someone tried to back in to the park behind me and hit my baby! They ripped the bumper off onto the ground! So $$$$en pissed. Here's some photos, PM me with what you think.

No note or anything just a hit and run.
I've polised all the black marks that were lieft on the car and bumper, looked like shit before that.

I have a business called Sunny Coast Customs. I do paint and panel work from mild to wild. I also can supply bodykits and now turbo setups. I also do stereo installs.

GRNNVY6, the kits for the ecotech's shouldn't be far away. I will let you know when i've got one.

I hope to remove the engine in about a month or 2 to smooth out the engine bay and paint it properly. I'll probably relocate the battery to the boot aswell. I'm looking at getting a crome alternator and some MSD coil packs. I still have to tap into the intercooler piping for the NOS aswell. I replaced the steering rack today aswell. Hopefully if all goes well i will be tuning it next week. I also need to install an oil catch can.

Looking the goods Troy. can't wait to see what you do with the bay... its a real pain in the butt getting the VR-VS bay smooth on the passenger side because of the cruise control and ignition module pressing... took me many hours with a bucket of cold water an oxy and an old school hammer.

12-06-2008, 08:27 PM
Thanks peoples.

Yeah RW, i already moved the Cruise Control unit. I may even do away with it as i really don't need it. I'll probably relocate as much stuff as i can and even make some false spaces to hide it like where the battery sits.

12-06-2008, 08:41 PM
this is one of the few vr/vs with the later kits on that i really like. you built this really impressively & it just keeps getting better & better!

out of curiosity, do you install sunroofs?

LOOKS GOOD but for someone who has spent as much money on your car as u have why would u go with an ebay kit??? cause my bf said he seen alot of these on ebay so wouldnt be hard to get lots of kits like u said id rather by quality and if ur motor was stroked wouldnt u put more boost into it or a better turbo oh well good luck with it anyway

00VRO
13-06-2008, 03:13 AM
I didn't buy my kit from ebay. I got it from the person that supplies me with the kits i sell. I do know the kits your talking about on ebay and my supplier also sells turbos and parts on there and he may sell the kits you are talking about but im not sure on that one.

As for putting more boost through it, yeah i could but i would like my car to last longer and have a more reliable car rather than pulling the motor down every 6 months. And as for putting a better turbo on it, My supplier ran this same turbo on his VR for about a year with no problems at all and that was on 12 pound boost. I will be putting 15 pound boost through it now too. I thought it came with a 12 pound boost setup but its a 15 so i might be looking at a good HP figure. I have to get a different feul pump aswell because the 400hp one that came with it would do me as i will be putting out more than that. I will be going the Bocsh 044. I also have to change the injectors to the VS-VY super 6 ones in it. I will be changing out the Chiptorque chip with one that will handle the horse power. I hope to have it tuned in a month or so and then its ready for C4C5.

Cheers STIVS6. Yours is a very nice ride too. Like i said in another thread mate, your is one of the nicest stockish VR/VS's i've seen. With me i like them to look stockish or all th way out there. I don't like it when their half done.

I have now ordered my Walkinshaw bonnet scoop for my car. I will be shaving it down to around half the height and moulding it on. Just when i think i might finish it off with the turbo i find another thing to do to it. lol.

I was also thinking about a VS Spack bobtail. What do you all recon?

Stiff
13-06-2008, 07:34 PM
the walky bonnet sounds good when i first starting reading the post i was like no.. but your shaving it down lol should be good!

but im not sure about the bobtail as it suits like lightly modded vr/vs's and with your bodykit i don't think it might stand out as much?

00VRO
13-06-2008, 08:09 PM
Yeah but thats what i want. Something thats just noticable.

Be good to see how the bonnet turns out, the bob tail i'm not sure about- sort of different lines to the kit if you get what i mean, but you've got the knowledge & tools just put it on & if it doesn't suit pull it off, perks of the job hey:p

i was reading the new thread you have started... real impresive work is happening to it.. i agree with you about the vl walkingshow bonnet.. if you remember a while ago BAD 189 a green vs ss has fitted one on his car. it looks bloody awsome.. and with your cutom paint it fits wright in..

good luck with it .. will wait for c4c to see how it turned out.

00VRO
19-06-2008, 04:31 PM
Never got to see BAD 189. Hopefully the scoop will be here tomorrow. It's going to have to take the back seat for now as i have got a VS coming to me next week for a bodykit and paint and then a custom VP the following week for a turbo kit, tune, suspention and exhaust. Going to be a big 2 weeks.

00VRO
20-06-2008, 07:23 PM
Ok, started it up tonight and took it up the street, bloody hell, it's got balls. Not tuned and running on 7 pound boost she kicks ya back into your seat. Getting the exhaust done on Monday or Tuesday and then ordering the 800hp fuel pump and surge tank. Also i have to get the bigger injectors. And probably in the first week on July i will have it chipped and tuned.

Here are a few shots of the engine bay. Disregard the date on the pics. I just got a new camera today and didn't set the date. After it is all tuned and going i will be taking it all out to smooth the engine bay. I also put on the VN radiator hose and neck so i could fit the K&N pod on it. Full 3" exhaust goes on on Monday. I made a new tip for it aswell. It's 2 of the Monaro style tips made into a twin setup. This pic will give you an idea of what it will look like. I have to make a new surround for it out of alloy.

how come ur not using return to tank on your surge setup?

What do you mean?

The bottom ones for the fuel pump, the middle one is for the fuel in and the top one returns the excess fuel back to the tank.

Hi 00VR0, nice setup you've got there!

My wagon has the same kit going on to it as we speak, i was wondering what you did to make the bottom radiator hose work- the stock one on my VN doesnt have the right clearance to work with the front-facing exhaust manifolds.... would be interested to see what you've done with yours, seeing how the radiator bottom inlet, and water pump outlet would be the same?

Cheers

Just had to spend another $300 on bloody speedflow fittings. Damn it. I need to run a line from one rocket cover to the other and then into the catch can. I thought the breather would be enough but i was wrong. Well you learn as you go. I also got 2 new tyres today, theres another $700. Still have to put in the surge tank and fuel pump before Thursday. Starting to get the shits with it all. Hope to have it all done including the new front bar before the C4C.

Davem had trouble with getting his aftermarket rocker covers to stop leaking, by memory they were the same as that, ended up going back to standard ones. i got the series 1 alloy ones and i still got problems with the stupid things leaking. just a heads up. also might be worth adding a T into you turbo drain and connecting to bottom of catch can, drains captured oil back into sump and also is a breather on the bottom side of the motor, apparently the buick/ecotec motor have small oil return galleries and are shocking for breathing.

00VRO
17-07-2008, 08:48 AM
Yeah i've looked at plumbing it back in. As for the rocker covers i have put speedflow fittings onto them and sent it to the catch can.

Also just got back from ChipTorque, got 300hp at the wheels on 11pound boost. After the new head gaskets go in an up the boost i should get close to the 400 mark which ain't too bad for a V6.

Im also going down to the booth today to paint up the new bar for the C4C. Got alot of work to do before Sunday. Need to make new panels for the boot install, detail inside and out, fit the bar and a few other little things. I also have to go and paint a customers engine bay for her.

No i don't think threads like that are allowed. Besides, i lost all my pics the other month when the new external hard drive i brought crashed. Take note people, buy 2 hard-drives to back-up your documents just incase one dies.

Here is a pic from a car show that i went to on Sunday. I placed 3rd in the All Out Modified class. I some how lost to a basiclly stock looking Monaro with mags and a bit of engine work and a Shellby Cobra replica.

I would understand if the monaro was actually a VW Beetle with alot of modified panels.

00VRO

It was run by a car club and the members of the car club did the judging.
