For a while I was hearing a strange rattling noise coming from under the car which oddly only became noticeable at light throttle. I started to suspect that perhaps that something serious like a clutch or gearbox had been damaged. Luckily when the guys at R&L Automotive in Gladesville got her up on the hoist we found this crack in the bracket between the catalytic convertor. The noise was obviously being created when the cats started to shake as the air flow increased causing the bracket to come apart. Hopefully a quick fix can be achieved with a weld.

Has anyone else had a problem with the same thing?

quite common, just give it a zap with the old welder and it will be good as new again. cheers steve

You can also just piss off the bracket. I don't have it on my car, and all is sweet (got a full exhaust system - 4into1's, high flow cats etc.). It didn't even have one on when the car was standard, I'm pretty sure that's how it was from factory on mine - there's no welded nuts on the cats for it to bolt up to.

Yeh my mate said when we put it up that they don't do very much and it won't do anything removing it.

I want to get some high-flow cats I might kill two birds with one stone and remove the bracket when I do that.
