Hey peoples,
Well most would know i had to sell my Twin turbo SS ute to help fund the new house, now that we are in the new house (12months this month) time has come to buy a new toy...
Its a MINT 1970 280SE Merc in Navy Blue with English Cream Interior with the 2.8L fuel injected 6cyl and 4spd auto...All paint and panel is A1, chrome has been replaced or refurbished and motor and gearbox are great..
Sits on 14in stock wheels with Merc Hubcaps and whitewall tyres...
Plans are to use it as a cruiser and a toy to muck around with later, possible conversion of 2J or LS series motor...
Would ideally love to bag the car all-round but being Qld its not really worth the risk but ill be looking into some ways around it..
Ill throw some pics up this week after i have time to wash her up and get RWC and Rego on it :D

Was looking at one myself, exact same. Didn't come down to Vic to get it did you? lol
found a 1972 280ce I want now...plans for that being a complete soda blasting, any damage repair required and a Blood Chocolate respray, bags, and just have standard 6 rebuilt etc. Mercedes had some bloody nice cars in the 70's
good luck with it mate! will be following this very closely

Very Nice. A 2J would be all sorts of wrong in a classic like this as they need revs to perform, this thing needs low down torque and cruise revs, LS sounds like a good option ;)

I know a lot of you have either currently got whitewalls or mates with whitewalls...
Ive spoken to a lot of people on their methods to clean whitewalls and nothing has compared to this solution...
Some of you may already know but just didnt want to spill the beans but here it is..
My whitewalls on the Merc were a very funky yellow/brown as they get dirty, and i had NOTHING in the house to clean them (so i thought)
I looked in the kitchen and got a steel wool scourer (BRAND was Stainless Steelo, which is a stainless steel scourer with a detergent added within) and just got normal car wash..
Got the car wash and brushed the wheels for a minute or so with a sponge/brush.
Then let that sit for a bit and grab your Steelo and work on the whitewall part of your tyre for a minute or so as well..
This is the end product and they look brand new...
Hope this helps the guys out there with whitewalls instead of buying "so called cleaners" that only do half a job!

wouldnt the steelo actually cut into the paint and wear it away?

nah mate, you dont need to force it while you scrub hey... Just give it a gentle rub and its all sweet.. As long as its not a HEAVY or RIGID steel wool and you dont go to town on it and make sure its the thin flexy stuff it will be sweet :D

haha thanks fella's, really gets attention where-ever you go its pretty funny...
Definately needs a service and tune up...Having a straight thru 2.5in exhaust with no mufflers/cats etc just a rear hotdog and u step on the pedal all the unburnt fuel and shit out of the exhaust just covers the car behind lol...
thinking to just lower it front/rear a touch and leave it or save up for rear bags only...
Ohh and as for the Flat Brims, i know you love it bud :D
