With the new heads on the old bottom end, did the engine make power to 6000rpm?
Any chance of seeing a dyno graph from when the engine was re-tuned with the new heads?

The engine only goes to 5700rpm due to the valve springs but hopefully it will rev harder now with the new engine. The heads didn't make extra power on the dyno but they gained 4-tenths at the race track.

when you say a new engine wat do you mean? you reconditioned one or you got an old one and just replaced some of that parts with it? i think you mighta tod us in tha mag wat you did but i cant find it :( Is it the engine you picked up for ~$400?
Scott means the new engine as in the one that is being built up as the hero engine. You know, the one with all the good stuff.....acl pistons, BBC rods, etc. It will have the heads and manifold, and whatever else, bolted onto it when it's time.

We're not using the BBC rods yet we'll see how these one go first, but yeah basically it's a freshly built engine.
scott if you dont mind me asking how much did the headwork set you back? and what kind of difference are we talking between just a basic reco and the stage 2 jobs? im interested in having mine ported & polished, but its proving bloody difficult to get a price. also if i get a cam & chip kit at the same time, will i have to have the memcal remapped after the headwork? i know it will cost more for my heads im just trying to get a rough idea. cheers.
