I had factory fitted one in my old VK Calais, and I would never get one again it used to drive me mad with all the wind noise it created and it used to rattle like hell! I am not sure how good newer ones are, I would quiz a few people getting one installed.

If it's a late model Hollandia, like a TVS44, 700 series etc, then you won't have any of the issues the old VK ones had.

They are a great sunroof, and the only ones I'm comfortable with.

Only downside I can see is you lose a bit of head space as it will generally take a bit more room in there. As mentioned before, not the cheapest modification

In a VH, the headlining is already a good 35mm or so lower than the roof skin, and the late model Hollandia ones would make bugger all intrusion into headroom.

I've just bought a vh with one in and it's awesome. I don't get any wind noise or anything like that even at high speeds. Not sure if it was a factory install or not but looks like it. The roof lining does hang a little lower but barely noticeable.

The factory 700 in my VT has wind noise when the blind is open but is quiet as a car without a sunroof when closed. There is no loss of head room either, if anything its better as the blind is heigher. The only negative is the mandatory relocation of the dome lamp further rearward. This makes the map lights rather useless. Lucky for me in the Senator's you get lights in the rear view mirror that make up for it.

While were on the subject kind of, is it much trouble for sunroof installers to install second hand sunroofs? Or dont they like to do it much?

Most dont really seem to like it too much.

I had a sunroof installed in my wagon say about 2 years ago, and a few months ago i went back to the original place and asked how much it would be to get it taken out of my wagon, and put into a new car.

I eventually worked something out with them, but they were hesitant. If it had of been a 2nd hand sunroof they said they wouldnt have even taken on the job. (It was hard enough to try and get them to re-install a sunroof they had originally installed)

Rough costs would be around $1000-1500 to get a 2nd hand one installed, and they wont give a warranty. Its easier to pay the extra and get a new one
